Perceived Conversation Quality in Spontaneous Interactions

The quality of daily spontaneous conversations is importance towards both our well-being as well the development interactive social agents. Prior research directly studying has operationalized it in narrow terms, associating greater to less small talk. Other works taking a broader perspective interaction experience have indirectly studied through one several overlapping constructs such rapport or engagement, isolation. In this work we bridge gap by proposing holistic conceptualization conversation quality, building upon collaborative attributes cooperative floors. Taking multilevel conversation, develop and validate two instruments for perceived (PCQ) at individual group levels. Specifically, motivate capturing external raters' gestalt impressions participant experiences from thin slices behavior, collect annotations PCQ on publicly available MatchNMingle dataset in-the-wild mingling conversations.
